Jo Dee Messina

The Country Comfort Tour
Shoreline Amphitheater (October 4th, 1997)

Concert Review by Jeff Krasky

Jo Dee Messina opened for Brooks & Dunn last year, not bad for a high profile event if you ask me. Well, now she has teamed up with Hank Williams Jr., Travis Tritt, and the Charlie Daniels Band for Fruit of the Loom's new country mega tour.

JoDee & JeffJo Dee has the difficult task of warming up a crowed who are eagerly waiting to see three big name acts. During her short 20 minute set, you could look around and see people almost tripping over chairs walking to their seats with their eyes glued to the stage. Never before have I seen an audience so involved in a openers performance. Messina demands that kind of attention.

Opening with a fan favorite, non-single “On A Wing And A Prayer”, the concert never once slowed down. From her debut single “Heads Carolina, Tails California”, which got a amazing response from the California crowd to “You Wanna Make Something Of It”, one thing was obvious, Jo Dee wanted to keep it fast and furious.

Concert goers also got a sneak peek at Jo Dee's new single that will be hitting radio shortly called “Bye, Bye”, another fun, fast paced tune that has become Messina's trademark.

I personally can't wait for Jo Dee Messina to get a more dominate position on a tour. She puts on one of the most lively performances out there.
