Women Of Country 9.0

Four years ago I launched the Women Of Country web site. The goal was to promote female country artists due to the fact that they were largely ignored in almost every other type of media. The site started out small and I never imagined it would grow a whole lot. Since then the web site has grown to be one of the most critically claimed country music sites on the Internet. We have you, the readers to that for that. Your support is the reason this web site can continue to exist.

Due to your constant support I always feel a strong drive to improve the web site in any way I can think of. The web site has gone through nine major redesigns over the course of its existence. Each time we work very hard to try and make the site better. We reevaluate sections of the web site and determine if they are still relevant. If they aren’t then they are removed. You’ve surely noticed sections disappear over time. Sometimes we’re wrong and then the section makes a return based on reader feedback. You’ll notice that the Featured Song section has vanished. It was one of the most constantly updated and lowest used portions of the site. By eliminating it the staff now has more time to work on exiting new features. You’ll also notice the Biography section is gone as well. Don’t worry it will be back soon.

In fact our new focus is on providing more special features. Throughout the year we will be working on various new items. We hope to bring readers more interviews in upcoming months to help you get closer to your favorite stars. You can also expect to see contests giving away great prizes from time to time.

It’s always a nerve-racking experience when we decide to change the site. You work for weeks on something and aren’t sure what people are going to think. So far we’ve been lucky, let’s hope that streak continues. The staff needed a design that was more flexible to allow us to accomplish what we want to bring to you. That required quite a different look. We hope you agree that it’s an improvement.

You will notice that Latest News has been added to the site again. For a while we tried doing the news in the form of an e-mail newsletter. That didn’t work out as well as planned. The web-based version is back. Check back frequently. We will be posting new stories as soon as we have them. You will still continue to get newsletter from us but they will be to notify you of major updates to the web site.

There will be new sections added to the web site over the course of the next few weeks. You will also see the archives in album reviews and wallpapers return.
