Real Life with Rachel Proctor

What An Exciting Week! - 3/1/07

Rachel Proctor Photo 1 So... Tuesday I went to Target and bought my copy of the new Kenny Loggins CD. I was so excited to hear it because I'd only heard an mp3 version Kenny sent me months ago. It sounds so good.

Now... if you go out and buy the CD you may be confused at the liner notes and songwriter credits. My song is #9 but I'm credited as being a writer and guest vocalist on a different song... factory mix up I guess. Just know that mine is called “Too Much (Never Get Enough).”

Next week I'll be flying to L.A. to sing with Kenny at his SOLD OUT show at the Troubadour. I'm so nervous about it. I'll be singing on stage with one of my heroes. It doesn't get much better than that.

Speaking of heroes. Most of you know how much I look up to Miss Martina. She has been such an influence on my singing and my writing. Well, last night I got to go to a private listening party at Blackbird Studios here in Nashville. All of the songwriter's and publishers who have songs on the new album were invited. She played mine first because I had to leave early to go do a gig. That was the coolest thing she could've done for me. I would have died if I would've had to leave before hearing it. She introduced me and my co-writers to the room and then said that “Everybody Does” was the hookiest song she's heard in a long time. That she'd never heard so many hooks in 3 minutes and 20 seconds. As it played through the speakers I thought I was going to pass out. It sounded awesome. She is truly amazing. I even think John had a little tear in his eye... He was so proud of me he about burst.

It sounded like a gigantic hit. My fingers are crossed that it will be.

There was a buzz going around this morning in town that it might be the next single but I know how that goes so I'm knocking on wood and praying really hard. Nothing would make me happier.

The gig we did last night was off the hook. We did an acoustic set with John on keys, my acoustic player Scotty, and Victor my swedish bass player. Oh my gosh, it was the best show I've ever experienced. Everybody seemed to just be chillin' and so locked in musically (and I only forgot the words once). It was one of those nights that I could've stayed on stage singing for hours. I need more of those. That's what it's all about for me. Being famous doesn't compare to being satisfied musically. All the money in the world couldn't buy me the feeling I had last night on stage.

This has been one of the most amazing weeks ever and I still have a big show tomorrow night at 12th and Porter to cap it off.

Thanks to my biggest fan, Ken Sidders and his mom who drove all the way here from Ohio to see my show last night. Also, John and Emily who are always there to support me at every show I do here in Nashville. You are all appreciated. You're the reason I make the music.

New music up on Snocap for downloads :-)

Love,
Rachel
