Real Life with Rachel Proctor

Me & Emily...West - 11/20/06

Rachel Proctor Photo 1I had forgotten over the last few years how much I love to sing. I know that sounds funny but when you're singing songs you don't want to sing it's not very fun.

Last night I played out live for the first time in 6 months. Normally before a show I get really nervous and irritable, but last night I was just excited. I knew I was walking on stage with the best band and music that I've ever had. All new songs and a brand new energy. It was awesome. I felt at home on stage for the first time in a long, long time. Of course, the only song I forgot the words to was “Me and Emily” which is totally ridiculous, but funny at the same time.

The coolest moment of the night for me was the last song. Will Hoge came out to the show which was a huge deal to me to begin with because I think his music is so freakin' awesome. I asked him to come up and sing with me on HIS song “Better Off Now.” I was so nervous and being the dork that I am I didn't know the “rock n' roll rule” that I'm supposed to let him sing a verse so he had to stand up there with nothin' to do for half the song. Oh well, I'll just blame it on the blonde hair and the fact that Will Hoge was on stage with me. Oh my God. Can we say nervous??? Anyway, it was a very cool moment.

I'm falling in love with being on stage all over again and I can't wait until the next show. The Rutledge is an awesome venue. Great sound and for a Sunday night we had a great crowd. We even had some industry folks out which was very flattering!!!!!!!!!

Emily West was the headliner last night and she did awesome. She's definitely one of Nashville's true singers. Her voice shines and sparkles. I hadn't heard her sing in years and I'm so glad we shared the stage last night. She's super sweet too. The kind of person you wanna be friends with.

I can feel my inspiration coming back... I feel like writing today. Thank goodness John's home.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Love to you all,
Rachel
