Chely Wright - Let Me In

Purchase The Album
1997 has been one of the most exciting years for country music in recent memory. With new artists like Lee Ann Womack heating up the charts and the return of greats from the early 90's like Joy Lynn White, the country world has been getting hit with solid material all year long. Now Chely Wright returns to the spotlight with her third album, all to appropriately titled "Let Me In".
If you haven't heard of Chely Wright before the single "Shut Up and Drive", talk to radio. Chely has been another one of these amazing talents just left in the shadows. That didn't keep her down though, with a new label and a new album Wright's career looks more promising than ever.
MCA Records and Tony Brown have worked wonders with Chely. From the title track, a aching ballad of a woman pleading for a man to let her into his heart to the catchy honky tonker "Feelin' Single, Seein' Double" she sings them all, and sings them all well. The greatest aspect of this album is the variety of music found within its ten tracks.
With powerful vocals, a down to earth feel and a determination not found in many artists, Chely is ready for the spotlight. The difference is this time, she can't be denied that spotlight. With material like the songs found on "Let Me In", there isn't a person that could turn their backs on her.

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection. This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level. This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there. A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy. This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark. |
