The Kinleys - Just Between You And Me

Purchase The Album
This has been the year of the duo. New releases from Bekka & Billy, Regina Regina and more have made Brooks & Dunn work a little bit harder to hold onto that top spot. Now the sister duo of Jennifer and Heather Kinley, otherwise known as The Kinleys, are ready to try and dethrone the untouchable Brooks & Dunn duo. Do they have what it takes? Simple answer, yes.
The debut single, "Please" has gotten The Kinleys off on the right foot. With the single screaming up the charts and a popular video for the song, the exposure has made them the talk of many country music conversations. With "Just Between You And Me", their debut album, they prove the talk isn't for nothing.
The Kinleys unique, heavy vocal style and tight harmonies make for a album most would be jealous of. "(Ooh, Aah) Crazy Kind Of Love Thing", set out their style and then they back it up with other catchy tunes like "Dance In The Boat". The Kinleys follow the example set by Regina Regina and keep most of the album up-paced.
"You Make It Seem So Easy" and "Just Between You And Me" are jems. Simple arrangements on both songs allow the sisters vocal powers to shine through. It is apparent that while either one could hold their own as soloists, something magical happens when they harmonize. Every little quirk and twitch in their voices, seem to come naturally to both artists, neither one, pushing the other out of her comfort zone. They are totally in control, something many duos struggle for years to gain.
Regina Regina, Brooks & Dunn, John & Audrey Wiggins, who will rule '98? Only time will tell, but putting your money on The Kinleys would be more than a safe bet.

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection. This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level. This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there. A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy. This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark. |
