Purchase The Album

"Shakin' Things Up", the new album from Lorrie Morgan, by the title gives us a hint that we might hear something different. The title turns out to be misleading, with this album we get another dose of Lorrie Morgan's typical sound.

From the light sounding title track, to the current single "Go Away", there isn't much we haven't heard from Lorrie previously. I like to think that with each new album, the artist will throw something a little new and a little different out to the listener. Without that new variety once in awhile, the artist can become stagnant. The only problem with that thought, is Lorrie Morgan proves me wrong every time, by releasing strong material that you can't turn away.

The album has its share of highlights. A remake of Bobbie Cryner's "You'd Think He'd Know Me Better" shines under Morgan's powerful vocal style. "One Of Those Nights", a fun song about a woman just needing to get away from it all, wins people over with its distinct attitude. A classic Lorrie ballad "You Can't Take That" could be considered the albums best track.

Lorrie Morgan has releases another strong collection of country tunes with "Shakin' Things Up". You won't find anything shockingly new, which hurts the albums over all appeal a little (hence the 4 star rating). Lorrie once again proves to be one of country music's most consistent female vocalists.

The WOC Rating Scale

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection.

This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level.

This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there.

A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy.

This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark.
