Shelly Streeter - Shelly Streeter
Long Arm Records
Purchase The Album
The California Country Music Association has named her Female Vocalist of the Year and Female Entertainer of the Year. The Country Music Association of America gave her the Female Vocalist and Female Entertainer of the Year awards. With all of this acclaim, Shelly Streeter was signed to Long Arm Records to take a shot at the big time. Well, it's no suprise after winning awards like that, that we see a powerful debut album from Shelly.
All songs on this album have a much more country sound than most of what we hear on the radio today. This is a very welcome change. From "Purple Bows" to "Call Me A Wildfire", Streeter shows that her country roots run deep. It takes a ton of guts to get into the studio and record a debut album with this sound. Not only did she do it, she went in there and did it well.
The album has a few below par tracks which account for a one star markdown. "Oh Mamacita", came off as a weak song and "Broken Dreams" lacks anything to make it stand out. The song sounds like any of a hundred songs released in the early 90's.
The most unique aspect of this album is that it is a ECD. For those of you unfamiliar with ECD's they are a new idea that is just now gaining popularity. The ECD brings not only music to the album (just like a regular CD) but contains video clips you can play as well if you have a computer. This is a very nice feature that I personally would like to see used more often.
Overall, Shelly Streeter has released a solid album. If you like a more classic feeling country album this is definitely one for you. I would keep my eyes out for Shelly Streeter, she has what it takes.

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection. This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level. This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there. A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy. This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark. |
