With a burst of energy and a definite attitude in her voice Sherrié Austin has broke on to the country music scene with the hit single "Lucky In Love". While the song is fun and easy going, there is still a strong story line, one that continues throughout the entire "Words" album. That theme is love.

When you have as long a trek to Nashville as the 26 year old Australian did you learn more than enough about love and life in general. This helps Sherrié write seven of the ten tracks on the disc with authority and that "been there, done that" feeling. Not only does she have a extremely promising career as a artist, I would look for her name written next to a lot of song titles on other peoples work.

Painful ballads like "That's No Way To Break A Heart", leave a lasting impression on the listener. A gritty sound not heard much in country anymore comes to life in "Tenderly", a song that will no doubt make it to single status.

Sherrié doesn't let production get in the way of her singing, or the way she delivers a songs message. This is such a refreshing change in a year of country music dominated by sleek production jobs.

Austin has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in her first ARISTA records release, "Words". This album could easily be called one of the, if not the best album of 1997 and by the looks of things, she is only going to get better.

The WOC Rating Scale

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection.

This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level.

This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there.

A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy.

This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark.
