Tanya Tucker - Complicated
Capitol Records

Purchase The Album

Tanya Tucker has put together a career most people are only able to dream about. Since the age of 14 she has been turning out hit records and her 30th releases titled "Complicated" appears to be on the same track.

The song selection is probably the best we have seen out of Tanya in the 90's. All songs are powerful but more importantly pace is varied. The album opens with a simple rocking tune titled "Ridin' Out The Heartache" and then falls into the current single "Little Things," a emotional ballad. This fast, slow, fast pace continues through most of the album.

One of the nice things about this album is the "live" feel. Tanya constantly talks to you at the beginning of tracks with things like "Oh, I want to tell y'all about a love thing". This makes it sound like you are sitting down to one of her concerts. I am a very big fan of these more raw recordings.

Tucker's gruff vocals haven't changed a bit and still make her music as great as it is. Her personality is the one thing that shows in this album, something you normally don't see. "Fire To Fire", "Soon" and Tanya's other 90's albums have all had a very polished studio sound so this is a welcomed change.

This album gathers my highest recommendation. Tanya has proved herself to be one of country's leading ladies, once again!

The WOC Rating Scale

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection.

This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level.

This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there.

A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy.

This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark.
