Wynonna - The Other Side

Wynonna's newest release, The Other Side, is all attitude. "Don't you throw that mojo on me," she wails on the albums 6th track. The Other Side isn't just a catchy album title, it fully represents where Wynonna is standing with her music.
This could easily be Wynonna's career album. Her bluesy growl is more distinct than ever, and she makes the transaction from a very polished studio artist to a more raw sounding one with apparent ease. The Other Side puts Wynonna firmly back in control of her career, something that might have been missing in albums like Revelations.
Wynonna's music has always been rather overpowering, and this one is no different. The current single "When Love Starts Talkin'" will knock you flat. While ballads like "Come Some Rainy Day" are powerful and flawlessly sung, Wynonna's strength remains her fast songs like "Love Like That", a song sung with complete wreakless abandon. Lets not forget "We Can't Unmake Love", a powerful duet with John Berry.
Wynonna's new effort is a impressive one. All I can say is, Wynonna welcome to The Other Side.

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection. This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level. This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there. A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy. This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark. |
