Glenda Lynn Cover
Glenda Lynn - Blue Roses
Cherry Records

I have always been a believer in smaller record labels. You might not be able to find the albums in every record store across the country and you might not get the fancy packaging you find from bigger labels. What you do get is an artist with the freedom to record the music they choose, and who gets to record it their way. This kind of artistically freedom always seems to turn out higher quality music. Glenda Lynn's debut album is no different. Blue Roses is a collection of songs that are modern, yet at the same time never loose touch with their traditional country roots.

Glenda Lynn's smooth voice is displayed perfectly on the albums title track, a powerful ballad that puts a new twist on a classic country theme. The traditional feel of "Another Heart," makes it a winner.

We all can relate to the story of "Some Monday," a song about a woman who just wants to break away from her job and live life. "That's The Silence You Heard," is one of the albums best. An impressive vocal performance and a powerful message, it doesn't get much better.

Glenda's cover of Shania Twain's "Still Under The Weather," is an solid one, equal to the original if not better. "A Moment Of Weakness," is one of those songs with hit written all over it. With "What It's Not," Glenda pulls together the albums best. A song about a woman who admits she might not know what love is, but she has lived enough to know the relationship she is in now isn't love. Glenda's voice bleeds emotion, you can tell she understands the song.

If I can make a suggestion. Go out and buy this album. It is available for purchase through her official web site (http://www.glendalynn.com) or at Blockbuster Music stores. It's worth every penny.

The WOC Rating Scale

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection.

This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level.

This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there.

A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy.

This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark.
