Purchase The Album

It's surprising that this album isn't a lot better than it is. Claudia Church has a powerful and distinct voice and has the direction of her husband/singer/producer Rodney Crowell. I was expecting one of the better debut releases of the year. Instead this is a collection of sterile country-pop with very few redeeming qualities.

Mistake number one? Claudia has recorded yet another cover of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow." It might have been a great song the first few times but now it's just old, overused, and ineffective. Mistake number 2? Recording an almost laughable remake of Trisha Yearwood's "I Don't Fall In Love So Easy." Mistake number 3? Falling into the trap of recording sound alike material. But you can't really blame Claudia for that, it has become a trend.

There are a few moments of greatness within this collection. A couple of tracks that show us Claudia is a real talent. "Home In My Heart (North Carolina)," features some stunning imagery. The single "What's The Matter With You Baby," is a catchy tune that grows on you the more you hear it. "It's All Your Fault," is the albums other track worthy of recognition.

The rest of the album just doesn't distinguish itself from the thousands of other songs out on the market. It's a shame because Claudia Church has a lot going for her. Teamed up with the right songs she has potential to turn out hit after hit. This release might be a disappointment but I'm not counting her out. Let's see what her next offering brings to the table

The WOC Rating Scale

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection.

This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level.

This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there.

A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy.

This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark.
