She's had more number one records than any other female country artist in history. In fact she's considered by many to be the best of the best. It would seem that Dolly Parton would have no trouble getting her music on the air or turning them into much deserved hits. Wrong answer. It today's narrow-minded music industry an artist over fifty doesn't stand a chance of even being heard. It's the pathetic truth behind radio, if you're not young, you're not given a chance. But let's put all the political garbage aside for a minute and be honest. Dolly has been creating top notch music since the start of her career and Hungry Again is no different.

The debut single "Honky Tonk Songs," is one of those fun types of songs that rivals her 1993 hit "Romeo." The only problem is that outside of video airtime on CMT the song was shoved under the carpet by many radio stations. I can't say this enough, it's a shame that we let legends music go by unnoticed. The new single "Salt In My Tears," is one of the better releases we've seen in 99 so far. It has the potential to be a big hit. That is of course assuming that anyone gets to hear it.

The title track is a solid acoustic ballad about a woman who is fed up with the current state of her relationship. "Paradise Road," is one of the albums best and deals with a poor girl who thinks that her imagination can take her anywhere she wants to go. Other stand out tracks include "I Wanna Go Back There," and "Time And Tears."

Dolly is a masterful storyteller. She writes songs that strike right at the heart of what country music is all about. Not to mention she's got a voice you'll never forget. Maybe this time around the industry will give her a chance and people will be Hungry Again for Dolly's music.

The WOC Rating Scale

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection. This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level. This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there. A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy. This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark.
