Purchase The Album

Sara Evans recorded an exceptional debut record. Her voice is well suited to the hardcore country songs contained on Three Chords and the Truth. Her second album was aimed more towards country radio with it's blend of traditional and modern sounds. It turned out a major hit but was mostly ignored. Now with her third album, Born To Fly, Sara has set her aim squarely on the likes of Faith Hill and Shania Twain. Born To Fly could have been a disaster. However, Sara pulls it off with the confidence of an artist who refuses to be denied.

The album opens with "Born To Fly", an upbeat song with a very distinct Dixie Chicks type feel. It deserved to be the hit it became. Sara's voice soars through "Saints and Angels" and the current single "I Could Not Ask For More". The funky instrumental of "I Keep Looking" is backed up by strong writing and seems aimed directly for the top of the charts.

The most impressive aspect of this album is how Sara manages to keep her country feel to these decidedly pop offerings. "Why Should I Care" is absolutely stunning. They just don't record ballads this good anymore. The song could be one of the best of the year.

If you haven't heard the name Sara Evans yet, you soon will. This is one of the strongest albums of modern country music that I've heard in a long, long while. Sara's incredibly powerful voice cuts through this collection of songs with ease. Born To Fly is destined to soar to the top of the charts.

The WOC Rating Scale

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection.

This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level.

This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there.

A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy.

This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark.
