Purchase The Album

The Marie Sisters debut album on Universal Records opens with the rip-roaring leadoff single “Real Bad Mood”. After listening to that track a couple of times one thing becomes perfectly clear, Kessie and Chaz both have distinct vocal styles and a heavy dose of attitude and it’s just what’s needed to elevate this album above the generic run of the mill country record that we’ve seen released so many times this year.

“Oh Yeah” follows the same path of “Real Bad Mood”. It’s an upbeat rocking country tune that you can't help but sing along with. “Kiss Me Goodbye” is another solid tune that could make a good single. It's a solid blend of both sides of the Marie Sisters style.

The biggest surprise of the album is that the rest of the it is full of a lot of pop flavored ballads. But they handle those with ease as well. “Strong For You” is one hell of a ballad, which lets the Marie Sisters show off their distinct, powerful voices. It’s one of the best tracks found here. They cover Julie Reeve’s “You Were A Mountain” and make it their own. “Still” is another solid slow song brought to life by the harmony vocals. When Kessie and Chaz sing together they harmonize so well you almost can’t tell two people are singing.

The Marie Sisters have put together a solid debut album. Let’s hope the next time around they record a few more upbeat songs that let them inject a little bit of the attitude they so obviously possess. That type of song is one that the Marie Sisters can real sink their teeth into. However, they obviously have an ear for a solid slow song and deliver a number of those on this record. Give this duo a few records to completely develop their sound and they could very well be a force to reckon with. Marie Sisters is a solid debut album for any country fan itching to hear a fresh new duo.

The WOC Rating Scale

The album stands above the rest. This is a record that every country music fan needs to have in their collection.

This album is better than the average release. A strong record with some flaws that keep it from reaching that 5 star level.

This album is an average country release. Doesn't posses qualities that make it stand out among all the other albums out there.

A weak record that lacks solid songs or good vocal performances. Sample before you buy.

This record is a bargin-bin reject that just isn't worth the time or the money. Completely misses the mark.
